Jim Yeo NSW Referee Coach of the Year

Jim Yeo has been awarded the New South Wales Referee Coach of the Year at a recent awards ceremony.

This award is the highest honour in regards to Referee Coaching in NSW, and it is Jim’s second notable acknowledgement in recent times, after receiving a 10-year National Tournament Service award at the 2009 National Touch League.

Jim has had a long association with Touch Football over the past 25 years, from a local level in his home town of Mudgee to a National Level.

He started playing Touch in 1985 and also refereed at the 1999 World Cup and the 2001 Youth World Cup.

Jim retired from refereeing after the 2001 Youth World Cup and has been coaching now for eight years.

Jim initially got into refereeing to help out his local association, which had a shortage of referees.

“The clubs needed referees, so I started refereeing and thought it was pretty good, and it just progressed from there.”

His credentials over the years include achieving a Level 6 referee status (retired), as well as a Level 4 Referee Coach and Course Presenter. He is also a member of the National Referees Panel and the NSWTA Referee Panel.

Jim has been awarded Life Membership to the NSW Hornets Touch Association as well as Mudgee Touch Association - which he was President of from 1990-2003. Jim has also served on the NSWTA Board as Vice President and Finance Director.

Jim says that “he has always tried his hardest to do his best and improve all the time.” This commitment reflects the hard work he has put in and what he’s achieved in the Touch Football community.

Touch Football Australia would like to congratulate Jim on this achievement and thank him for all the work he has done for Touch Football.
